a little bit about me...

Alexander Heller is an independent photojournalist, with a focus on multimedia storytelling based in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area. The Rowan University alumnus is experienced in professional event photography, visual integration, photo/video editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and iMovie, and social media targeting and communication in a fast paced, web-first environment.

After graduating from Rowan, Alex traveled throughout New Jersey documenting the historic COVID-19 Pandemic, photographing President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Wildwood, NJ, the George Floyd Protests in Asbury Park, NJ, and Election Day 2020 in Philadelphia, PA. By early 2022, he was also among the first Americans to travel to Israel since the beginning of the pandemic, where he stayed between April and June documenting the religious observances of the faithful and the daily lives of Israelis and Palestinians, as well as making a pilgrimage into Egypt.

Since returning from his transformative journey overseas, the globetrotting photographer has dedicated himself to documenting the religious and cultural observances of others, and remains passionate about how current events shape the historical landscape as we know it.

And when he’s not exploring the streets of Philadelphia through his street photography or not working for a client, you can catch him exploring the deeper meaning behind some of our favorite films on Letterboxd (@kinocollecter)

His written work has appeared in The Whit, Philadelphia Magazine, Elections Daily, and the Ordinary Times, and is currently a freelance photographer for the NPPA.
